Uranus is the third largest planet in the solar system and the seventh planet from the sun. Due to Uranus' dimness and slow orbit, it was long mistaken for a star despite being visible to the unaided eye. Also notable is the planet's extreme tilt, which causes its axis to aim almost directly at the sun. William Herschel, a British astronomer, discovered Uranus on March 13, 1781, while using his telescope to survey all stars down to those approximately 10 times fainter than those visible to the unaided eye. #uranus #planet #universe #solarsystem
